Meet the specialists of WeSI Geotecnica

WeSI Geotecnica's mission is to satisfy the geotechnical engineering industry need to support geotechnical design with numerical analysis.

Ayman A. Abed

Lead analyst

Ayman obtained his Diploma in Civil Engineering from Baath University, Syria, with a dissertation on the mechanical behaviour of foundations on expansive soils. In the same University he worked as teaching assistant in the courses Soil mechanics and Foundation Design. After his graduation, he obtained a Master of Science in Geotechnical Engineering. Moreover, in 2008 he obtained a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

Ayman specializes in the application of numerical methods in Geotechnical Engineering, and he is author and co-author of several papers in journals and technical conferences. In particular, his field of expertise is the numerical modelling of unsaturated soils, for which he developed and implemented an original anisotropic constitutive model.

At a glance

Ayman got his PhD at the Institute for Geotechnical Engineering of the University of Stuttgart, under the supervision of prof. Pieter Vermeer and prof. Antonio Gens.

His field of expertise is the modelling of unsaturated groundwater flow with particular focus on swelling clays and collapsible soils. He has been part of WeSI Geotecnica since 2013.
